From the first phone call I had with Mary and Matt, I knew their wedding was going to be special. They were so excited to join their families and watch their kids become siblings. I couldn't wait to begin planning photography for their day!
Mary and Matt share so much in common, such as a love for the great outdoors and music. They got engaged at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver- and if you know anything about Red Rocks you know it is a magical and special place! They are a sweet, fun-loving couple and I could tell from the beginning just how much they loved and cared for each other.
The day began
at the chapel at Simpsonwood Park in Norcross, Georgia. Norcross is a small, historic town with many beautiful parks just Northeast of Atlanta. We were blessed with a beautiful, warm, sunny spring day. If you know anything about Georgia, thunderstorms can pop up at a moments notice and luckily we kept dry all day!
Mary and Matt shared a sweet and intimate first look in front of the chapel. We proceeded to take bride and groom portraits on the ground around the park, as well as the family. Mary and Matt desired photos of them walking and enjoying the nature trail which showcases their love of adventure and exploring.
Everyone was so nice and kind and we were able to knock the family pictures out pretty fast!
The ceremony
was done be their good friend Tracy, who highlighted the road that led Mary and Matt together. It was an inspiring message and they invited the kids to the alter as well to commemorate them becoming siblings. Mary surprised Matt by changing the exit music to Star Wars- much to his delight!
The reception
took place at a nearby brewery called Anderby, where the guests enjoyed an old-fashioned shrimp boil curtesy of Mary's Louisianan roots. Mary and Matt shared their first dance and celebrated with friends while I had the pleasure of speaking with everyone and documenting the reception. It was such a fun night! It was clear how happy everyone was for the couple, and hearing stories about them from their family and friends was so heartwarming.
I must say, I enjoyed the shrimp boil very much!
